Republica Moldova şi Republica Italiană, ghidate de voinţa lor comună de a dezvolta relaţii de prietenie şi cooperare în domeniul politic, economic, comercial, cultural, umanitar şi în alte domenii, reconfirmă decizia lor de a stabili relaţii diplomatice prin instituirea misiunilor diplomatice la nivel de ambasadori.

Cele două părţi convin că, pentru moment, Ambasadorul Italiei în Federaţia Rusă, precum şi personalul Ambasadei vor reprezenta Republica Italiană în Republica Moldova. La rândul său, Guvernul Republicii Moldova va adresa părţii Italiene o notificare formală cu privire la modul în care intenţionează să fie reprezentat în Italia.

Exprimând satisfacţia pentru evoluţia remarcabilă ce a avut loc în relaţiile lor, cele două părţi se angajează să le dezvolte pe baza principiilor de suveranitate, egalitate, respect reciproc, integritate teritorială şi neamestec în afacerile interne, în conformitate cu Carta ONU, Actul final de la Helsinki, Carta de la Paris pentru o nouă Europă şi alte documente ale CSCE, precum şi Convenţiile de la Viena privind relaţiile diplomatice şi consulare, adoptate la 18 aprilie 1961 şi la 24 aprilie 1963.

Cele două părţi sunt convinse că stabilirea relaţiilor diplomatice între Republica Moldova şi Republica Italiană corespunde intereselor naţionale ale ambelor State, şi va promova consolidarea cooperării internaţionale şi pacea universală.

Întocmit la Moscova, la 21 februarie 1992, în limba engleză în două exemplare, ambele texte fiind egal autentice.

PROTOCOL

on the establishment of diplomatic relations between

the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Italy

The Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Italy, guided by their common will to develop relations of friendship and cooperation in the political, economic, commercial, cultural, humanitarian and other fields, reconfirm their decision to establish diplomatic relations by instituting diplomatic missions at ambassadors level.

The two parties agree that for the time being the Italian Ambassador to the Russian Federation, as well as the Embassy staff will represent the Italian Republic in the Republic of Moldova. For its part, the Government of Moldova will give a formal notification to the Italian counterpart on how it intends to be represented in Italy.

While expressing their satisfaction for the important evolution occurred in their relations, the two parties undertake to develop them on the basis of the principles of sovereignity, equality, mutual respect, territorial integrity and non-interference in internal affairs in accordance with the UN Charter, the Helsinki Final Act, the Paris Charter for a new Europe and other CSCE Documents, as well as the Vienna Conventions on diplomatic and consular relations adopted on 18 April 1961 and on 24 April 1963.

The two parties are convinced that the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Italy corresponds to the national interests of both States, and will promote the strenghtening of international cooperation and universal peace.

Done in Moscow on February 21st 1992 in the English language in two copies both texts being equally authoritative.
